南韓的中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒感染症（MERS-CoV）疫情仍未退，保健福祉部中央MERS管理對策本部22日宣布，截至當天上午9時，新增2件死亡病例及3名確診病患，其中1人在MERS最長潛伏期（14天）過10天後才確診感染，因而引發關注。
3名新增的確診病患分別是77歲男性、60歲女性及61歲女性，其中60歲女病患於5月27至29日間在首爾三星醫院急診室被感染，卻遲至現在才確診，而原先據知MERS的最長潛伏期為14天，但她則超過3星期才確診。
不過保健福祉部說，這名60歲女病患早在6月9日便出現輕微症狀，時間仍在14天的最長潛伏期之內，因此不會延長對疑似感染者的隔離天數。官員稱，這名病患太晚接受檢測診斷了，應該更早做才是。
新增的2名死亡病患則分別為84歲及87歲，各是在首爾三星醫院及大田大青醫院染上MERS，並在6月9日及12日確診。保健福祉部表示，2名死者生前都罹患癌症。
中央MERS管理對策本部指出，確診病患總人數172人，死亡病例總數27人，致死率提升到15.7％。痊癒出院者新增7人，總計達50人，仍有95名確診病患接受治療，其中14人病況危急。
由於20至22日期間共增加6名感染者，因此南韓MERS疫情結束時間將延至7月下旬或8月。疫情結束的標準是以不再出現新病患後，經過最長潛伏期的兩倍時間（28天），均無人感染，則可宣布疫情結束。
另據南韓《朝鮮日報》報導，先前確診感染MERS的39歲孕婦，感染初期出現輕微肌肉酸痛及略為發燒，現在病情好轉且前述症狀逐漸消失，母體及胎兒均健康，短期可望痊癒出院，相信屆時可以正常分娩。
越南也傳出發現首例MERS的不實消息，謠言稱河內市一棟有較多南韓人及外國人居住的高級公寓「京南地標大廈」，出現第一位MERS患者且遭隔離，但越南衛生部證實為錯誤資訊，強調至今境內沒有任何MERS病例。
